Historic District Walking Tours
Cheney Jubilee and Rodeo Weekend are just a few days away, and you are invited to incorporate a celebration of Cheney history into your jubilation & rodeo-ing! Members of the Historic Preservation Commission will be leading walking tours of our two National Register Historic Districts:
- Friday, July 13 – Walking tour of the EWU Historic District, 9:00 a.m. (meet at Showalter front steps), led by Commissioner Charles Mutschler
- Saturday, July 14 – Walking tour of the Central Cheney Historic District, 9:00 a.m. (meet in front of City Hall), led by Commissioner Scott Wilbanks
If you haven’t heard the stories of our local history (or even if you haven’t heard them lately!) we invite you to join us for a walk in the cool of the morning. Tours are FREE, and are expected to last approximately 1 hour. The Saturday tour will be finished in plenty of time for participants to find a good seat for the Rodeo Parade in downtown Cheney!
