The mission of the Cheney Parks & Recreation Department is to create community through people, parks and programs.
The Cheney Parks & Recreation Department offers recreation activities, trips and classes for all ages, and after-school programs for youth.
Cheney has over 40 acres of municipal developed park land which includes an outdoor swimming pool, many playgrounds and picnic areas, as well as athletic fields.
We offer a year-round recreation program with a variety of classes for all ages.
In the immediate surrounding area, there are many lakes and streams for fishing, boating and swimming.
There is a 3.5-mile paved recreational trail (Fish Lake Trail) immediately adjacent to Cheney for bicyclists, roller blades and walking.
Cheney Parks & Recreation offers activities for all ages, from youth to adults and senior citizens. Whether you are looking for health and fitness activities, crafts, cultural outings, or adult education -- we have it all!

TO ENSURE your class/program is not cancelled, register early!
All classes/programs must meet the minimum requirements of 6 participants unless otherwise noted. If class/program does not meet the minimum enrollment the class/program will be cancelled.

Inclement Weather & Holiday Closure
If inclement weather causes a two-hour delay of the Cheney School District, all programs that begin prior to noon will be cancelled. All afternoon and evening programs will continue to run. If the Cheney Public Schools are closed, all Parks & Recreation programs will also be cancelled for the day. If programs are held on weekends, a decision will be made by 8:00 a.m. and posted on the City web site, Facebook page, and a voice message will be left at 509-498-9251. Classes will not meet locally observed holidays unless otherwise noted by instructor.
The City of Cheney does not discriminate against any person on the basis of sex in the operation, conduct, or administration of community athletic programs and facilities. Any citizen who feels he or she has been the victim of discriminatory treatment in violation of this policy should report their concern to the Recreation Supervisor at (509) 498-9295 for appropriate investigation.
