Light

The mission of the Cheney Light Department is
to provide its electric customers a safe and reliable supply
of electric energy at the lowest practical cost.

The City of Cheney Light Department is a municipal electric utility serving approximately 4,300 customers in the Cheney community. Cheney Light was formed in 1931 when the electric utility was purchased from the local utility owners. The utility does not pay dividends to stockholders, but retails all net income for operation, maintenance and expansion of the electric distribution system.

Energy Sales

Cheney Light has a contract with Bonneville Power Administration to provide approximately all of its power needs through September of 2009.  Bonneville also provides transmission service to Cheney Light by way of a separate contract.

Distribution Services

Cheney Light provides maintenance and construction services from its facilities at the City Utility Building, 112 Anderson Road.

For information about the utility's rates or service policies, contact Joe Noland, Light Department Director, at 498-9230.

Locating Electric Services

If you need to locate underground utilities -- say, for installation of a fence -- call 2 business days before you dig:  1-800-424-5555.
