In January of 2009 the Wren Pierson Community Center was closed indefinately due to severe winter storm damage. Without a viable community center many critical services have been displaced and are struggling to remain available to citizens. The City of Cheney will recieve funding from insurance settlements due to the loss of the Wren Pierson Community Center and will be able to match it with real estate excise tax dollars to the amount of $1 million dollars. The City is proposing a Park and Community Center Bond in the fall of 2009 to establish an additional funding source to build a new community center as well as the first phase of the 50 acre park. Please click HERE for more information on the Bond and Pictures of the first phase.
