Youth Commission

The Youth Commission holds regular public meetings every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month @ 6:00pm in the Wren Pierson Community Center.

Who Are We?

We are teens in grades 8-12 who live in Cheney and want to make a difference in our community.

YOUTH COURT
Grades: 8-12

Cheney Municipal Court is creating a Youth Traffic Court. Youth Traffic Court is an alternative method of disposing of traffic infractions. Youth between the ages of 16 and 17 years can participate in a peer-review style court program and have their ticket dimissed instead of being reported to teh department of licensing. Youth between grades 8-12 can participate, under adult supervision, in an all-youth staffed court. Positions include Juror, Judge, Prosecutor, bailiff and Clerk of the Court. Court sessions are held once per month and last about two hours.  To apply as a youth court participant please contact the Cheney Municipal Court or Cheney Youth Commission.  Applications are available at the Recreation Office or Online at www.cityofcheney.org.
