Board of Adjustments (4 year appointment)
The Board of Adjustments meets every 4th Monday in City Hall at 5:30 p.m., as needed.  Check with the Planning Department to see if there will be a meeting.

The Board of Adjustments hears appeals of decisions by the Building Official, and also reviews applications for variances to the zoning code.

Historic Preservation Commission (4 year appointment)
 
The Historic Preservation Commission meets every 1st Thursday in City Hall at 5:15 p.m.

The major responsibility of the Cheney Historic Preservation Commission is to identify and actively encourage the conservation of the City's historic resources.

Park Board (3 year appointment)

The Park Board meets every 2nd Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Cheney Parks and Recreation Office located at 2640 First Street, Suite B.

The Park Board works to provide, promote, and coordinate park maintenance, recreational, and cultural opportunities in a safe and healthy environment for the benefit and enjoyment of the Cheney community.

Planning Commission (4 year appointment)
The Planning Commission meets every 2nd Monday in City Hall at 6:30 p.m.

The City Council relies on the Planning Commission to recommend land use policy and to hold public hearings to take comment on specific land use applications prior to decisions.

Civil Service Commission (3 year appointment) 
The Civil Service Commission meets every 3rd Tuesday in the Mayor's Office at 5:00 p.m., as needed. 

The Civil Service System was developed to assure fair and impartial treatment for all classified Civil Service Employees.  In municipal government this includes all uniformed personnel-- policemen and firefighters.  The Civil Service Commissioners see that all hiring, firing and promotions receive due process and fair treatment.
