What's in our current Comprehensive Plan?  It's all on-line, including maps and diagrams.

April 8, 2008:  A new vision statement is being developed, and is being refined through a process of community meetings.  Following an Open House on April 2, a 5th Draft Vision Statement is available.  See what the Citizens' Advisory Committee has come up with, and send us your comments:  email vision@cityofcheney.org

Goals and Strategies will be identified from the Vision Statement.  The Comprehensive Plan will focus on implementing these goals and strategies.  Community Develpment staff will work with citizens, othe rCity depratments, and major stakeholders to develop reasonable, attainable goals.  A draft of these will be available in late May 2008.

The Comprehensive Plan acts like a business plan for the City.  As a result of this citizen involvement process, the NEW Comprehensive Plan will incorporate the Vision Statement, Goals and Strategies, and the Capital Facilities Plan into one guiding document.  A draft of the NEW document will be available in September 2008.

The Capital Facilities Plan is a priority list of major projects to be carried out within the next six years.  These projects are submitted by City departments and evaluated using the goals and strategies listed in the Comprehensive Plan.  The Capital Facilities Plan is a useful tool for developing yearly budgets.  A draft of the plan is available is posted here; the final document is expected to be approved by City Council in May 2008.  The Plan is amended annually in conjunction with the City's budget process.

The Development Code is an implementation tool for the Comprehensive Plan.  This new unified code will be replacing the Zoning, Subdivision, Manufactured Home, Environmentla, and Administrative Codes.  Drafts of this code will be available throughout 2009.

Previous Vision:  In 2006 the City hired a consultant to begin a vision process for the Comprehensive Plan.  Read the full report that was developed as a result of that effort.
