About the Department
The Cheney Fire Department is an all-hazards preparedness and response department responding to over 1,900 calls annually out of one station. We are a combination career/volunteer department that provides full-service fire protection, fire prevention, hazardous materials response, rescue, and emergency medical services to over 12,000 residents. Additionally, the department is responsible for Fire and EMS contracted services to Eastern Washington University for approximately 8,200 faculty, staff, and a resident student population.

Employees & Equipment
We are a combination department with 18 part-paid volunteers, 10 full-time line firefighters (Firefighters, Lieutenants, Captains and one Battalion Chief), and three administrative Chiefs. We have one station that houses one Class-A engine, a 109' pumper/ladder truck, a medical unit, a support unit, and two brush trucks.
