Planning Department

Through development of a comprehensive plan and associated land use regulations, the Planning Department works to assure the city's citizens of an optimum living environment while providing an expanded employment base in an environmentally conscious residential and business community.

Helpful Resources

  • Planning Commission meetings are held monthly, on the 2nd Monday of each month, beginning at 6 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, which is located at 609 2nd Street. Minutes of previous meetings can be reviewed here, and an agenda for the current month's meeting is also available for review.
  • Cheney Comprehensive Plan: The Planning Commission has recently completed a year-long review and update of our comprehensive plan, the policy document which will drive development over the next 20 years.  Adoption of the 2017-2037 Comprehensive Plan by City Council is expected in summer 2017.
