Through development of a comprehensive plan and associated land use regulations, the Planning Department works to assure the city's citizens of an optimum living environment while providing an expanded employment base in an environmentally conscious residential and business community.

- Planning Commission meetings are held monthly, on the 2nd Monday of each month, beginning at 6 p.m. At this time, Planning Commission meetings are held in a hybrid format, where attendance may be in-person, or via Zoom video or phone conference. The current month's agenda will include the Zoom link and directions for access. Public participation is encouraged. Minutes of previous meetings can be reviewed here, and an agenda for the current month's meeting is also available for review.
- Cheney Comprehensive Plan: The Planning Commission has recently completed a year-long review and update of our comprehensive plan, the policy document which will drive development over the next 20 years. The 2017-2037 Comprehensive Plan was adopted by City Council in summer 2017.
