Current Planning & Land Use Projects

The Community Development Department regularly posts information about current development projects, including timelines for project approval and hearing dates.

Land use applications are reviewed according to timelines set out in the Cheney Municipal Code, Title 23, and applicable state laws.

Usually the applications are reviewed by city staff in various departments prior to being presented to the public for comment. Environmental reviews associated with land use applications are governed by the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA).

Land Use Projects


LUA2021-008 -- Blackhawk Ridge Preliminary Plat
Location:  Undeveloped land located between Irene Place and Summit Drive.
Proposal:  The applicant, SynTier Engineering, Inc., on behalf of Steve Emtman and SE Grand LLC, proposes to plat 52 lots on 9.3 acres.  The site is zoned R-1, Single Family Residential.  This site would be developed with roads and infrastructure/utilities (water, sewer, stormwater, etc.) which would tie into the existing road network.
