The Mayor appoints citizen boards to advise the Mayor and City Council on various specialized topics. Boards and commissions usually meet monthly, and meetings are open to the public.

Historic Preservation Commission Vacancy

The City of Cheney is seeking someone to fill a current vacancy on the Historic Preservation Commission.  Serving on a city board or commission affords citizens the opportunity to participate in the citywide effort to address important issues.  If you are interested, are a registered voter, and live within the city limits, please
apply online here, or call the Mayor’s Office at 509-498-9200 to have an application form sent to you.  Persons interested in future vacancies are also encouraged to apply. 

Service on a Board or Commission

Service on a board or commission is a great way to gain understanding of how local government functions, and can be a springboard to service in an elected office.

Member Terms

Board and commission members are generally appointed to 3- or 4-year terms, beginning in January.  Please see each commission or board's page to learn more.
