Household Hazardous Waste

Household Hazardous Waste

Unfortunately, we were unable to accept Household Hazardous Waste at the Recycling Center during our April Clean Sweep event this year, but a one-time special drop-off for household hazardous waste will be held on Saturday, May 13, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon (extended hours for this event only).

If you are unable to participate on May 13,  Cheney residents may safely dispose of these items at the Spokane Waste-to-Energy Plant, 2900 S Geiger Blvd (Exit 276) throughout the year due to an interagency agreement with the City of Spokane.   Please note that these items are typically NOT accepted at the Cheney Recycling Center.

This is for disposal of household chemicals such as:

  • Aerosol sprays
  • Batteries
  • Cleaners & disinfectants
  • Degreasers
  • Engine cleaners, brake fluid, automatic transmission fluid
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Glues
