The Cheney Planning Commission scheduled a Public Meeting on November 8, 2021 to present the priorities and funding for the Community Development Block Grant program for year 2022. The City is proposing this year to submit a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application titled the 2022 Cheney Water Improvement Project. CDBG funds will be used for water main replacement on Elm Street from N 6th Street to N 5th Street, and N 5th Street from Elm to Cedar. The request is for grant monies to pay for water main replacement using grant match towards street preservation work, as these types of projects are identified as high priority needs in the CDBG program.
2022 Budget - Public hearing to discuss the General Property Tax Levy and the EMS Levy for 2022. The Proposed levy amounts are $3.10 per $1,000 assessed valuation for the general tax levy and $.42 per $1,000 assessed valuation for the EMS Levy. The EMS levy calculation is based on the 1% allowed increase before the current year’s assessed value of new construction, improvements, and refund adjustments.
2022 Public hearing for discussion of General Fund Revenue - both received through 2021 and projected for 2022.
2022 Budget Public hearing for the department budget presentations for governmental funds including: Administration, Finance, Municipal Court, and Parks and Recreation.
On September 29, 2016 the City entered into a lease agreement with DowRocks, LLC. which included an option for the lessee to purchase the property legally described on Exhibit A of the Real Property Purchase and Sale Agreement. DowRocks, LLC. desires to exercise its option to purchase the Property in accordance with the terms of the Option Agreement.
The West Plains Fire Departments formed an Interlocal Agreement (ILA) in 2016 in order to operate a more efficient and effective volunteer firefighting academy. The ILA was updated to remove Medical Lake Fire Department from the agreement along with some minor edifications that did not change the interoperability of the agreement.
