[ARCHIVED] Well #3 Startup Completed Successfully Today, July 30

Cheney's newest well was successfully started this morning, and as expected, there is some discoloration to the water.  City crews are flushing water mains at the hydrants to help clear the discolored water out of the system.

Residents may experience cloudy or discolored water.  If your tap water is discolored, please run the COLD water for 15-20 minutes, and then check to see if the discoloration has cleared.  If the problem persists, contact the Public Works Department at (509) 498-9293 to report your location.  Crews will be available to flush nearby hydrants until all water quality issues are resolved.

Well #3 is expected to produce in excess of 1,000 gallons per minute (gpm), adding substantial pumping capacity to the City's water system.  This should provide significant relief to low reservoir levels which have been a problem during irrigation season in the past.  We appreciate your patience during the startup phase for the new well!
