Most people are not aware that one of the City of Cheney wells does not produce potable (drinkable) water. The reason the water from that well is not drinkable is because it has experienced water turbidity (cloudy water), and does not meet acceptable limits for potable water usage.
The city uses that well as a dedicated well to water the grass and plantings in Salnave and Sutton Parks as well as Moos Field. Having this dedicated well means that you may notice these parks being watered when lawn watering is prohibited or restricted.
Running this particular well does not impact our reservoir levels.
