Every winter, people leave for the holidays, and return to Cheney to discover their cars are not parked on the street where they left them. It’s important to plan ahead when you leave for the holidays -- or even just overnight -- to make sure your vehicle won’t block city plows while you’re gone.
If you park on the street, your vehicle must be moved if there’s a heavy snowfall. Keeping the streets of Cheney clear of heavy snow can be a tall task, which is why we need your help. Moving your vehicle for plowing speeds up the process to make our streets clear and safe for everyone, including school buses and emergency responders.
Whenever two or more inches of snow accumulates on city streets, and so long as that snow remains uncleared, no vehicles may be parked on any street or city right-of-way between midnight and 6 a.m. In the central business district, this parking restriction is between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. If your vehicle blocks snowplows, Cheney Police may issue you a citation and have your vehicle towed at your expense.
