What do I do with old medication that I want to get rid of?
Almost all medicines can be thrown in the household trash, but you should take precautions. Medication disposed of in the garbage must be mixed with coffee grounds or another type of substances, notes the FDA. This is to make the medication less attractive to small children, pets and people who look for drugs in the garbage. Taking the medication from its original packaging and sealing it in a plastic bag or container prevents leakage into the ground or water supply. Flushing medication down the toilet is never advisable unless the medication instruction advise otherwise. For more information, visit the Spokane Cares website. You can find it here!
