1. I was in a car accident in Cheney. How do I get a copy of the accident report?

Accident reports can be obtained from the Washington State Patrol.

2. How do I get a copy of a police report?

The easiest was is to submit a request through our Public Records Center.  If that isn’t possible you can fill out a form in the Mayor’s Department at 609 2nd St. or call the Public Records Officer at 509-498-9283,

3. How long does it take to get the records once I request them?

State law says that we must respond to your request within 5 business days. Our response will be to provide the records, deny the records, provide an electronic link to the records, seek clarification, provide a date when you can expect to receive the records, or let you know that we do not have any responsive records.

4. What information do I need to request records?

You will need to know the specific records you want. Please be as detailed as possible. If you are requesting a police report, the police report number is helpful.

5. How do I get a copy of my utility bill?

If the account is in your name, please call the Finance Department at (509) 498-9209. If the account is not in your name, please submit a request through our Public Records Center.
