1. How do I start the process to obtain or modify my utility service?

Please contact the City at 498-9230 or at the Utility Building located at 112 Anderson Road. There you will be provided a form so that we can obtain your contact information and service requirements.

2. When should I contact the City?

Early in your planning process. Please contact us in the planning stage of your project. Our goal is to make your electric service installation efficient, simple, and to avoid current and future conflicts.

3. How much will it cost to have services installed?

The cost for electric service is based on a number of variables and we are happy to provide a quote based on your specific situation; the amount of infrastructure to be installed, your load requirements and any other requirements for your site.
Electric temporary services are $150.

4. How long before my service will be installed?

The job will be scheduled once the fees have been paid. We generally try to schedule jobs on a first paid – first done basis.
Note: The service will not be energized until the Labor and Industries (L&I) inspection sticker is on the meter base (must be legible) and L&I has notified the City of the inspection.

5. Who does the inspection?

For electrical you will need a Washington State permit and an inspection by Washington State Department of Labor and Industries (L&I). The City will not energize the service until we are notified by L&I that your service has passed inspection.

6. Are there any other special requirements?

Customer opens and closes all Trenches. Trenches for primary conductor (prior to the transformer) must be a minimum of 30” below final grade. For secondary conductor (after the transformer) the trench must be a minimum of 24”. Maximum of (3) 90 degree sweeps.
The maximum mounting height of any meter is 72” above final grade.
An external main disconnect is required on all services except commercial services with a dedicated transformer.
All direct metered commercial customers must have a by-pass style meter base.
Multi-family dwellings must have unit number placarded on the meter base.
