Except for a person who is not qualified for jury service under RCW 2.36.070 and RCW 2.36.100, no person may be excused from jury service by the court except upon showing of undue hardship, extreme inconvenience, public necessity, prior jury service in the last twelve months, or any reason deemed sufficient by the court for a period of time the court deems necessary. Examples of hardship include juror’s chronic or serious illness, illness in juror’s family which requires his or her presence at home, or death in the juror’s family.
